The Hazels taught her how to survive in the world and she is grateful for it everyday. The second foster parents she had were the Fergusson. They only fostered children for the money. Mr Fergusson was a heavy drinker and beat Georgina. Mrs Fergusson couldn’t see past her husbands abuse to get out of it and help the kids. Georgina was just getting up. It was early around five as she glanced at the clock. There was a faint buzzing coming from her bed stand as she looked towards it. She pulled the draw and took out her phone which was buzzing and flashing in the dark. She couldn’t read the caller ID so she answered, “Shaw, what can I do you for?” She asked groggily. It was way too early for her at the moment. She listened to the voice on the other end, ’Can I offer you a premium call package Miss. We have a great---.” She hung up the phone, “I hate cold calling.” She muttered under her breath.
She began to lay back on her warm bed and closed her eyes. Images flashed across the darkens, several Marines running across the ground. Faster and faster she could hear the bullets flying past. Suddenly she awoke. ~Beep, Beep~ Her alarm was ringing. She reached over and flicked the button and thought about her dream. She was thankful to have awoken when she did as the next part was worse. She slowly got out of her bed and walked over to the wash basin. She splashed water over her face and looked in the mirror. A tired looking woman looked back, “And ain’t this a good day.” She said to herself as she got washed and dressed.
It was around seven when she shut the door on her apartment. She walked down the stairs towards the exit of her building. The day seemed good enough to her as she started to jog along the side walk. She passed several stores and a few groceries stores. She remembered to go and get some food as her fridge was empty and she wasn’t going to live from take out. She collected a few things before she headed back to he apartment.
